A Former Packers coach earned an interview
A former Packers coach could be earning a promotion here shortly. With the NFL’s “Black Monday” over, teams are searching for coaches to try and overhaul disappointing teams. The Packers, who have won eight NFC North championships since 2011, have had plenty of quality coaches in recent history. Last year, the Broncos hired Nathaniel Hackett. This year, a former Packers defensive quality control coach could be the Indianapolis Colts’ head coach.
According to a report by Adam Schefter with ESPN, the Colts interviewed Broncos defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero.

Evero was with the Packers organization in 2016 under then-head coach Mike McCarthy. According to his profile by the Broncos, Evero coached the Los Angeles Rams in between his stint with the Packers and Broncos. Evero started coaching with the Rams as a second coach/passing game coordinator and then moved to coach the safeties. He was with former Packers coach Hackett this season. While the Broncos’ season has been a mess, one wouldn’t blame Evero for the team’s problems.
The Broncos’ defense is ranked in the top third in the league in yards allowed. They are ranked 13th for the average number of points per game given up. That’s not terrible at all, considering quarterback Russell Wilson and the offense couldn’t stay on the field and put up points. According to CBS News, Evero turned down the Broncos’ interim position after Hackett was fired.
