Christian Watson and Aaron Rodgers developed a unique relationship on the field in 2022.  Even though their season did not end the way they wanted it to, Rodgers had a massive impact on Watson. both on and off the field.  In an interview with the media this week, rookie wide receiver Christian Watson was asked what it was like to play with Rodgers this season. His answer was nothing but praise for the four-time MVP quarterback.

Christian Watson Comments On Aaron Rodgers’ Impact

“I’m extremely thankful to be able to have learned from him, grown with him,” said Watson. “I think that he pushed me to become a better player, a better man, each and every day. I’m just thankful for the opportunity to, if it is the last opportunity, I’m just thankful I got to learn and play with such an extraordinary athlete.”

Not every rookie wide receiver has the opportunity to come into the league and play with a quarterback who has won four MVPs.  Watson certainly didn’t take it for granted.  After the departures of Davante Adams and Marquez Valdes-Scantling, the Packers were looking for a replacement. They traded up in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft to select Watson out of North Dakota State.  While Watson’s season got off to a slow start, he ended the season being one of the best rookie wide receivers in the draft.

In 2022, Watson recorded 41 receptions for 611 yards and seven touchdowns on 66 targets. Watson also ran for 80 yards and two touchdowns on seven carries.  One of those carries being the infamous 46-yard touchdown run against the Chicago Bears.  Whether or not Aaron Rodgers is back in Green Bay in 2023, Watson certainly made the most of his opportunity in 2022.

So. Where’s “the massive comment” in any of this? His answer to the question was about as vanilla/generic as you could toss out! Its to bad his $50 million dollar QB didn’t show up for OTAs and Minicamps. As it was, the three rookies posted combined numbers in receptions, yards and TDs of Adam’s year in Vegas. They could have likely surpassed those numbers with extra time together in spring. But I guess Gutey isn’t paying #12 enough for any extra input. Dump #12 go with Mr.Love!

Yep that one week of voluntary OTAs is what made all the difference this year… probably would have won his 2nd Superbowl. Oh what a difference a day or 5 can make.
