The Milwaukee Bucks are 1-6 to start the season and Giannis Antetokounmpo trade rumors are only going to grow as the season goes on. The Bucks appear to be one of the worst teams in the NBA this season unless they start winning games in a hurry.
As for the Boston Celtics, they are one of the best teams in the NBA this season at 7-1 and are the defending NBA Champions. The Milwaukee Bucks rival, the Cleveland Cavaliers, are 8-0 to start the season and could be the biggest challengers to the Celtics in the East this season.
Sports Illustrated Creates Mock Trade That Would Send Milwaukee Bucks Giannis Antetokounmpo To the Boston Celtics
With the Bucks being bad this season, many people are trying to create mock trades that involve the Bucks’s superstar player. Matt Levine of sportsillustrated.com created a mock trade between Boston and Milwaukee. He would have the Celtics acquiring Giannis Antetokounmpo for Jaylen Brown, a 2025 first-round pick, a 2027 first-round pick, and a 2026 second-round pick.
Levine said about this:
“Landing a player like Brown for Antetokounmpo could be one of the best packages that the Bucks may get. He is still only 28 years old, giving the Bucks a franchise cornerstone for the long haul.
Milwaukee would also recoup a few draft picks in this deal. They have traded away the majority of future assets that they own so it could be in their best interest to make a deal.
Boston could pair up two of the top-five players in the entire NBA and they could reign together for years to come. Antetokounmpo’s strong defensive ability could stand out for the Celtics as well, giving them a legitimate two-way superstar.
It remains to be seen if Milwaukee will even make Antetokounmpo available but if they do, Boston should at least check in to see what it could take to land him.”
The interesting thing is, would the Celtics want to break up the Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown duo with Giannis Antetokounmpo and Jayson Tatum instead? Brad Stevens would not want to touch the chemistry of this Celtics team, but this could jump the start of a rebuild for the Bucks, who need draft capital desperately.
Potential Fire Sale At the NBA Trade Deadline
The serious question is would any Milwaukee Bucks fan trust general manager Jon Horst to make the right moves at the NBA Trade Deadline this season to potentially start a rebuild? The odds of them trading Giannis Antetokounmpo to the Boston Celtics, the New York Knicks, or another franchise might be unlikely, but other pieces could be dealt.
Players like Pat Connaughton, Bobby Portis Jr., and Brook Lopez will no doubt be dealt. It is also possible that there will be offers for Khris Middleton and Damian Lillard. If Antetokounmpo were to be traded this season to a contender, this would be the end of an era for the Bucks and signal a full rebuild.
