The Brewers began the last series of their three series road trip. They saw Pablo López today who came into the game with four scoreless starts on the year.

There wasn’t much offense tonight with two great pitchers on the mound, but the Crew was able to win the pitchers duel.

Corbin Burnes has not had much run support this year, but luckily for him he doesn’t need much. Kolten Wong opened the game up with his second lead off home run of the season. Wong sent a ball deep to right field on just the second pitch of the game. Wong’s second home run of the season went 366 feet and gave the Brewers a 1-0 lead.

    3rd Inning

Former Brewer Jesus Aguilar tied the game up with a home run off Burnes in the bottom of the third inning. Aguilar cashed in on what was Burnes’ sixth home run allowed this season. He allowed seven all of last season.

Burnes would be exit the game in the seventh inning. He allowed five hits, one run and struck out seven. Devin Williams would take over the eight trying to shake off a bad outing against The Reds. Williams would work a scoreless eighth after facing the minimum.

The 9th inning started with a Christian Yelich lead off single. It was Yelich’s first hit of the night and it came in a clutch situation. Urías would come up next and he would be hit by a pitch. Rowdy Tellez started the night batting fifth but Craig Counsell would pinch hit Tyrone Taylor in his place. Taylor hit a deep single to load the bases for Hunter Renfroe.

Renfroe would strike out on three pitches bringing up Jace Peterson. Peterson saw four straight balls and drew a walk, scoring Yelich from third to give the Brewers a 2-1 lead. Josh Hader would come in for a save opportunity and picked up his 13th of the season. Devin Williams earned his second win of the season.
