The Packers‘ bold blockbuster trade for Micah Parsons last summer very nearly launched Green Bay into a Super Bowl run, that is, until the All-Pro edge rusher tore his ACL in Week 14, ending his season.
After Green Bay’s loss to the Chicago Bears ended a once promising 2025 campaign in the NFC Wild Card round, the Packers may look to restock their NFL Draft war chest with sights on building for the future.
It could mean trading one of the standouts of coordinator Jeff Hafley’s defense.
Could Packers trade Rashan Gary this offseason?

Parsons’ presence, operating under the assumption that he is back on the field and fully healthy sometime in early September, makes fellow edge rusher Rashan Gary a bit of a luxury piece on a roster that has plenty of pressing needs to fill but won’t have a first-round draft choice in the next to years to try fill them.
According to Bill Huber of Packers on SI, Rashan Gary could be a top candidate to be dealt away in the months ahead.
“After the Packers traded away two first-round picks to land Parsons,” Huber writes. “It seemed like a Gary trade this offseason could help recoup significant draft capital. After not recording a sack during the final 10 games, he’ll be impossible to trade and practically impossible to keep without a major change in his contract.
“Gary’s cap charge for 2026 rises to just a bit more than $28.0 million, seventh-highest among edge rushers. By removing his $18.0 million base salary from the ledger, the Packers could save about $10.98 million.”

Adding a couple of draft picks in the first two days of the draft, and freeing up cap space could be too tantilizing a proposition for general manager Brian Gutekunst and the Packers to pass up.
Gary posted 7.5 sacks, for the second consecutive season, in 2025.
