Despite frustrations from fans, at times, regarding game-to-game and week-to-week performances, there has rarely been a time when the state of Wisconsin has seen all of its professional sports teams as postseason contenders all at the same time.
The Green Bay Packers have been perennial contenders, for the most part, for the better part of three decades, but they also went through a two-decade long stretch of mediocrity. The Milwaukee Brewers, who have made the MLB Playoffs in seven of the last eight seasons, went 26 years between postseason appearances at one point. And the Milwaukee Bucks, the most recent Wisconsin team to win a championship, were one of the NBA’s most average teams (at best) for a long time before this current era.
This past year, the Wisconsin Badgers football team missed out on a bowl game for the first time in over two decades. Still, hopes are high that they will start a new streak this season.
There are other potential expansion into Wisconsin. There are some looking to bring an MLS team to the state.
Ranking Wisconsin’s Teams by How Healthy They Are in April 2025
In order for all of these teams to remain competitive, it is important for them to have a healthy team. As the saying goes, the best ability is availability, and championship-winning teams, more often than not, have their best players available and healthy.
Unfortunately, Wisconsin’s teams are not exactly the most healthy, even those that are currently in their offseason.
4. The Milwaukee Brewers

Unfortunately for the Brewers, they have had a great deal on injuries pop up among their starting pitchers, and they have not even been playing their regular season games for a month. Even before the season began, starters Aaron Ashby, DL Hall, and Tobias Myers suffered injuries that have delayed their season debuts.
Of course, Brandon Woodruff has also not made his first start of the season, but that was to be expected as he works his way back from shoulder surgery.
Since the year began, Nestor Cortes and Aaron Civale also went down with injuries.
As the Brewers have just begun their season, and based on the sheer volume of ailments, it is safe to say they are the state’s least healthy team at the moment.
3. The Milwaukee Bucks

The Bucks’ biggest goal of the 2024-25 NBA season was to get to the playoffs with their roster healthy and primed to make a run. Ever since the won the title in 2021, they have had one of their star players miss significant time in the postseason due to injury. Giannis Antetokounmpo, their most important player, has not played an entire playoff series since 2022.
And, of the most part, they accomplished their goal. Jericho Sims, who needed thumb surgery a month ago, will be back for Milwaukee’s first round series against the Indiana Pacers.
Damian Lillard, who has been out for the past few weeks with a blood clot, however, will not. Obviously, blood clots are very serious and his health takes priority over getting back in time for the postseason. He is making good progress, but there is no return date set.
2. Wisconsin Badgers Football

The Wisconsin Badgers football team recently held its spring practices. Of course, they do not begin their regular season until next fall.
In the meantime, though, the Badgers will need to determine who their starting left tackle will be. Kevin Heywood, who was expected to be the starter at the position this year, tore his ACL during the spring practice sessions and is out for the season already.
1. The Green Bay Packers

The Packers, like the Wisconsin football team, are currently in their offseason. If anything, this is the point in the year where they are the most healthy.
Of course, wide receiver Christian Watson will miss the start of the 2025 NFL season as he recovers from a torn ACL suffered in Week 18; but his is the only current injury that will cost anyone playing time to start the year.
Jaire Alexander appears to have recovered just fine from his knee injury last season, but there is very little hope that he will be on the team anyway in 2025.
