Packers training camp always provides fans with a chance to get a look at what they can expect from players. This is especially true of rookie players who are making the transition to the NFL. This year, fourth round wide receiver Romeo Doubs is the one garnering praise from fans and analysts alike who are in attendance. Here are some of the best Tweets so far:
Stop me if you’ve heard this before: Romeo Doubs reels in a deep ball through contested coverage. Jordan Love rolled out to his left and flung one deep across the field to Doubs, who held on through the hand of safety Shawn Davis. Big cheer from a packed house.

Romeo Doubs has been amazing so far. I really wonder how much of that is attributed to going against arguably the best secondary the Packers have had in a decade. Growing pains become that much more manageable when you have great teachers on the other side.

Day 2 of #Packers training camp:
• Aaron Rodgers… Still good
• Romeo Doubs took over the world
• Lot's of experimenting on OL
• Devonte Wyatt is a menace
• AJ Dillon somehow looks stronger
• Rashan Gary is unblockable
• A LOT of ST emphasisDamn, I love football.

Randall Cobb Had High Praise for Romeo Doubs
Packers fans and analysts are not the only ones that think highly of Romeo Doubs. Randall Cobb does, too. He spent a great portion of his media session on Friday talking about the young rookie.
“Nobody know his ceiling just yet. He has a lot of intangibles. He has a lot of special gifts, and that’s potential. I think we all know potential is one thing but seeing it out, I think that just goes with time. It’s going to take us a little bit of time to figure out how good he is going to be, but he has the pieces. We never want to set too high of expectations on people but I think he’s shown some flashes and if he continues to be consistent with that, that’ll be great for us.
“I think the biggest piece is just his ability with the 50-50 ball. When it’s just thrown up and it’s between him and a DB to make a play, that’s one thing you can’t coach. You can’t really teach that. You either have it or you don’t and he has it– that’s special.”
Being Able to Get that 50-50 Ball Will Earn Doubs the Trust of Aaron Rodgers
Earlier this offseason, Allen Lazard gave an interview in which he revealed the key to gaining the trust of Aaron Rodgers. In the interview, conducted by Jim Rome, Lazard said, “With Aaron, because he requires such a high standard of expectations, those 50-50 balls need to be 100-0. If you wanna get that ball again, you’ve got to show that you want it– and that you’re not going to allow the DB to make a play.”
Randall Cobb Talks Taking a Leadership Role and Mentoring Young Wide Receivers
During OTAs, Randall Cobb spoke on how important it is for him to set a standard in Green Bay. He also said he was giving the young receivers a crash course called “Aaron Rodgers 101.” Cobb alluded to both of these things as he continued his interview:
“It’s just on himself and on me and on our receiver group to continue to kind of mold him and kind of build him up and help him realize what he has. I’ve been very impressed with him so far, since I’ve been here, both him and Christian [Watson]. Just the way they come in, their willingness to learn and their willingness to pick up the offense and the dedication they show. It’s been great to see, but there is a lot more that comes with that so I look forward to seeing how time plays out and what happens with them.”
For all of the conjecture surrounding the Packers’ wide receivers this offseason, one thing is for sure: they are not short on leaders. Randall Cobb has taken the young Doubs and other players under his wing and, apparently, has taken on the responsibility of helping them grow.
We Packers fans are fortunate to have him back in Green Bay.
