Aaron Rodgers currently has an uncertain future with the Green Bay Packers and possibly the NFL. It is likely that we find out his decision within the next few weeks. Until then, however, we won’t know if he will play in 2023, and if he does, if it will be with the Green Bay Packers. Multiple players around the league have mentioned how they would love to have Aaron Rodgers on their teams. The latest one is a star pro bowl tight end. Raiders’ star tight end Darren Waller would love to be teammates with the four-time MVP quarterback.
Darren Waller Wants To Play With Aaron Rodgers
Tight end Darren Waller wants Aaron Rodgers to roll the dice and head to Las Vegas.
“If you come, it’s gonna be lit,” Waller said at Jay Glazer’s Super Bowl party in Arizona, via TMZ Sports. “If he comes, I’d be a happy camper.”
After struggling to stay in the league for several years due to drug addiction, Waller became a “Hard Knocks” star and turned that into a 90-reception, 1,145-yard season in 2019. He finished in third place for the Comeback Player of the Year Award. The 2020 season is what really put Waller in the upper echelon of tight ends, though. He caught 107 passes, nine of them for scores, for 1,196 yards, and was named to the Pro Bowl.
In Week 1 of the 2021 season, he looked well on his way to repeating the previous two seasons with 10 catches for 105 yards and a touchdown. However, in 19 games since, he has just 73 catches for 948 yards and four touchdowns. While the pro bowl tight end has struggled lately, being partnered with a four-time MVP quarterback in Aaron Rodgers could only help. However, could Waller end up in Green Bay without Aaron Rodgers? There have been multiple proposed trade scenarios that have Darren Waller being packaged in a deal with Green Bay for Aaron Rodgers. Waller would then be paired with Jordan Love and asked to step into one of the most underutilized positions in Green Bay’s offense for years.
