Friday was a very good win for the Wisconsin Badgers. They defeated Stanford and now return to Madison to take on the Green Bay Phoenix. Green Bay Basketball is out of the Horizon League. Tip time is 8 PM on BTN. Here is what you can expect tomorrow night.
Green Bay Phoenix Basketball: A Tale of Two Halves
In the first two games of the season, the Green Bay Phoenix has been down by two points and three points at half. In the second half? They gave up 46 points to Indiana State and 61 to Georgetown. That is a ton of points. Defense has been an issue for Green Bay Basketball under coach Will Ryan. It’s a young group and it will take time for them to learn to play together, especially on that side of the ball.
The Wisconsin Badgers have been excellent on the defensive side early on. They have yet to give up 60 points and their length and athleticism has shown to be a problem. I don’t see Green Bay Basketball being able to consistently score on Wisconsin.
Wisconsin Badgers: Forwards Should Dominate
Tyler Wahl has played like an all-Big Ten player so far. He’s been a problem for the opposition and tomorrow should be no different. The Green Bay Phoenix are young at the forward spot and won’t be starting anyone over 6’8.
Look for Steven Crowl and Carter Gilmore to also have nice nights in the paint too. It could be a good night for redshirt freshman Chris Hodges to get into a groove against a team that is giving up size ad strength as well.
A Last Tune-Up for the Badgers Before a Huge Stretch
After this game is the Battle 4 Atlantis. The Badgers know they will open up with Dayton and then a potential matchup with Kansas, the defending national champions. This fame against the Green Bay Phoenix will be the last chance for almost a month that Wisconsin will get a chance to clean up some things and see what they have for a potential rotation.
I want to see the Wisconsin Badgers bench have a solid night. Connor Essegian has been really good and Carter Gilmore has given some good minutes. This is a chance for players such as Kamari McGee, Markus Ilver, and Isaac Lindsey to solidify themselves in the rotation. All three should get 10+ minutes of action.
Wisconsin Badgers vs. Green Bay Phoenix Basketball Prediction
This should not be much of a game. Wisconsin should take care of the Green Bay Phoenix before halftime. I like where the Wisconsin Badgers are at from a starting lineup standpoint. This will be a good chance for the bench to show what they can do if they want to be in the rotation.
The Green Bay Phoenix are a young team and they will be hungry for a massive upset. It seems like a game where they hang around for the first two media timeouts. Eventually, talent takes over.
Wisconsin was really good against Stanford, who was tall but didn’t have much strength. Green Bay is giving more height and they are young too. Just like Stanford, I don’t see anyone for the Phoenix stopping Tyler Wahl. He is so good and so crafty around the rim that he should get whatever he wants.
The Green Bay Phoenix were one of the worst teams in the country last season. I think they have another year of growing pains. Wisconsin should cruise tomorrow night before a huge tournament in the Bahamas awaits.
