Well Packer fans, they did it! If you haven’t heard already, Green Bay has locked up the number 1 seed with their win over the Vikings. This win also eliminated Minnesota’s chances to make the playoffs. The road to the Super Bowl will go through Lambeau Field. Green Bay has secured the only first round bye and will have an opportunity to get players healthy. Here are the current playoff matchups post week 17.
Current Playoff Matchups
- (No. 1 Packers* on bye)
- No. 7 Eagles* at No. 2 Rams*
- No. 6 49ers at No. 3 Buccaneers*
- No. 5 Cardinals* at No. 4 Cowboys*
* Clinched playoffs.
The only team who hasn’t yet clinched a playoff birth is San Francisco due to a week 17 loss. San Fran can secure the final playoff spot with a win or a Saints loss to the Falcons. The 49ers definitely have the tougher road to secure a playoff spot with their final game coming against the Rams, who have won five games in a row. The Rams will likely play their starters to try and secure the two seed and a home game or two. However, it should be noted that San Francisco beat the Rams in week 10: 31-10.
Still in the Hunt
New Orleans Saints
Yes, Sean Payton and his football team still have a chance to make the playoffs. The Saints need two things to happen, a win and 49ers loss. Their final opponent is the Atlanta Falcons in Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Both teams played back in week 9 with Atlanta squeaking out a 27-25 victory.
