Zay Flowers Scouting Report
Per NFL Draft Buzz, Flowers has the following strengths and weaknesses:
Strengths
- He’s extremely dangerous in the open field, showing the vision and creativity to run through entire defenses
- Has elite balance tight-roping the sideline and in-and-out of his breaks, showing excellent start-stop ability and burst
- Very good hands, accepts the ball fluidly on most throws and is ready to make a play afterward. Makes catches in traffic, even going up over taller defenders with vertical and toughness
Weaknesses
- Doesn’t have the size to consistently win on the outside, but can be productive working the middle of the field and as a return man
- Flowers doesn’t have the ability as a run blocker or the violent run-after-catch ability

Zay Flowers in Mock Drafts
According to NFL Mock Draft Database, Flowers is a projected second-round pick. However, some mock drafts have him sneaking into the first round. Because of his size, it takes a specific team to have a specific need but those do exist. Many teams are looking for a receiver like Flowers. Below is a list of mock drafts and where they have Flowers being taken.
- SB Nation – No. 20 overall: Seahawks
- Vikings Wire – No. 21 overall: Chargers
- The Huddle Report – No. 26 overall: Cowboys
Would Zay Flowers Fit on the Packers?
I said that it would take a team having a specific need to take Flowers and the Packers might have that specific need. Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs will most likely stay on the outside meaning the Packers need a catch and run, over the middle slot receiver. Flowers would be a perfect fit and might even sneak his way onto special teams in certain situations.
Check Out Another Prospect That Could Fit For the Packers
The question with Flowers is whether Gutekunst is willing to use a high-draft pick on him. The Packers haven’t drafted a first-round receiver in a long time and I don’t see this being the year they break the trend. If Flowers is still on the board in the mid-rounds he could be more attractive but I think Gutekunst looks to fill other needs before reaching for a wide receiver.
