Zach Harrison Scouting Report
Per NFL Draft Buzz, Harrison has the following strengths and weaknesses:
Strengths
- Possesses accurate snap anticipation and timing to beat blockers off the edge
- Has a solidly built frame with good upper body strength and tenacity. Works hard to get to the ball. Plays fast with good initial quickness and closing speed to create havoc in the backfield
- Fast in a straight line. Excellent wide and bull rushes when he’s first off the snap
- Plays with leverage at the point of attack whether inside or outside. Keeps eyes in the backfield when inside; moves linemen to either side with strong hands
Weaknesses
- Stands up well against the run but is very pursuit-conscious and will take unneeded wide angles
- Is an amazing athletic freak who will likely blow up the combine come 2023, but there are always worries that he could be the next Vernon Gholston rather than the next Chase Young

Zach Harrison in Mock Drafts
According to NFL Mock Draft Database, Harrison is a projected third-round pick. At one point, Harrison would sneak into the first round of many mock drafts but has fallen back in a loaded edge class. The concern is that he is extremely athletic but lacks the skills to make an impact in the NFL. Below is a list of mock drafts and where they have Harrison being taken.
- The Ringer: No. 27 overall: Bengals
Would Zach Harrison Fit on the Packers?
Edge is definitely a need for the Packers but I don’t see Harrison as the perfect fit. The Packers tend to favor more speed off the edge than power. Rashan Gary, Preston Smith, and Kingsley Enagebare tend to beat their opponents with a speed move rather than a bull rush. That’s not to say that a bull rush can’t be used but it isn’t the profile that GM Brian Gutekunst usually goes for.
Check Out Another Prospect That Could Fit For the Packers
I think Harrison is a too high variance for the Packers to pick with a day 1 or 2 pick. The Packers are in a position where they want more of a sure thing. While there are no sure things in the draft, some players are safer than others. I think there are safer edge picks than Harrison for the Packers.
