Ricky Stromberg: Center, Arkansas: NFL Draft Scouting Profile and Projected Draft Position
Ricky Stromberg Arkansas Stats
In his four years at Arkansas, Stromberg has only given up a total of 4 sacks. In the last three years that he started at center, he only gave up 3 QB hits.
Ricky Stromberg Scouting Report
Per NFL Draft Buzz, Stromberg has the following strengths and weaknesses:
Strengths
- His high football IQ and the ability to set protections at the line of scrimmage will make him popular with position coaches
- He’ll consistently finish blocks, dropping on defenders when Stromberg has them on the ground. Stromberg shows good awareness reacting to twists and stunts as a pass protector, and he has the strength to anchor against bigger defensive linemen
- Mauler in the run game, playing with a nasty disposition and showing excellent snap and punch quickness
Weaknesses
- While he’s solid as an athlete, he’s more comfortable moving forward as a run blocker than setting in pass protection
- Doesn’t display the agility and speed to effectively get around as a pulling guard. Stromberg generally struggles in space, and he will have a tough time consistently landing blocks on the second level

Ricky Stromberg in Mock Drafts
According to NFL Mock Draft Database, Stromberg is a projected fifth-round pick. His intelligence and leadership will help him get drafted in the later rounds. Below is a list of mock drafts and where they have Stromberg being drafted.
- Pro Football Network – Fourth round: Texans
- Raiders Ramble – Sixth round: Raiders
Would Ricky Stromberg Fit on the Packers?
I don’t think Stromberg is a great fit for the Packers. Center is a position the Packers could give a look at in the draft if the right prospect is there. I like Stromberg’s strengths in the run game but the Packers need someone to help in pass protection.
Check Out Another Prospect That Could Fit For the Packers
Aaron Rodgers was under duress a lot last season so the Packers will probably be looking for a better pass protector. The only way I see Stromberg fitting is if the Packers take him as a project where he sits a year to improve his skills.
