Lukas Van Ness in Mock Drafts
According to NFL Mock Draft Database, Van Ness is a projected third-round pick. Some have him sneaking into the second and even first round as a couple of edge prospects have announced they are returning to school. He looks like a lock for a day 2 pick. All of his weaknesses are coachable and the raw talent will be too good to pass up. Below is a list of mock drafts and where they have Van Ness being taken.
- Draft Wire – Second round: Texans
- Tankathon – Second round
- Windy City Gridiron – Third round: Bears
- Dawg Pound Daily – Fourth round: Browns
Would Lukas Van Ness Fit on the Packers?
The Packers definitely have a need at the edge position. It was very evident later in the season that the teams needs some more pass rushers. If you give any NFL quarterback time, they will figure out how to complete passes. Van Ness fits the profile of what GM Brian Gutekunst likes to draft. Van Nuss is athletic and fast. These are the types of players that seem to do well in the Packers’ system.
Check Out Another Prospect That Could Fit For the Packers
I would love to see another young edge rusher come into the mix. Kingsley Enagbare and Rashan Gary are both in the early part of their careers. As Preston Smith ages, it would be nice to have depth behind him in case he could not play every down similar to what they did with Julius Peppers at the end of his career. Van Ness seems like a nice fit for the Packers’ defense.
