Kayshon Boutte: Wide Receiver, LSU Tigers: NFL Draft Scouting Report, Collegiate Stats, and Projected Draft Position
One of the most surprising decision of what’s been a whirlwind of news surround the world of college football in 2022-23 was LSU’s star wideout, Kayshon Boutte announcing that he’d be returning to the school for their 2023-24 season. However, Boutte quickly reversed course and recently announced that he’d be forgoing his remaining eligibility and officially declared for the 2023 NFL Draft.
With Boutte now ready to turn pro, let’s take a look at one of the more intriguing prospects in this coming April’s draft.

Kayshon Boutte Background
Former five-star wideout out of Westgate High School in New Liberia, Louisiana, Kayshon Boutte, committed to LSU back in October 2018. Following his arrival on campus in Baton Rouge, fans and media alike were ready to see what Boutte could do after being perhaps the most hyped WR prospect to sign with the four-time national champions since Odell Beckham Jr. did so all the way back in 2011.
Boutte had a solid Freshman campaign, as he posted what would end up being his best season at LSU yardage-wise after snagging 45 balls for 735 yards and five (5) touchdowns. Boutte would face somewhat injury-riddled Sophomore and Junior seasons, as he wouldn’t eclipse 550 yards in either campaign, but would secure nine (9) touchdowns in his Sophomore season.
Couple his recent injury record with his heavily rumored off-field issues, Boutte’s 2022 calendar year (and the beginning of 2023) have experts, fans, and media alike attaching massive question marks to the now-former Tiger. However, if Boutte’s injury and off-field issues are just a simple case of a college kid being a college kid, the talent is never in question and a team would be getting perhaps the steal of the draft if Boutte does indeed fall into the second or even third-round range.

Would The Packers Be Interested In Kayshon Boutte?
If you’re reading this, you’re probably aware that the Green Bay Packers haven’t drafted a wide receiver in the first round since their 2002 selection of Florida State wideout Javon Walker. While a pre-season lock to be selected in the top half of the first round, Boutte’s lackluster 2022 campaign coupled with his (alleged) off-field red flags over the past few weeks, Boutte has slid down nearly every draft board, with most draft experts having the LSU product a second-round selection in this coming April’s draft.
When it comes to if the Packers are to be interested in Boutte, the short answer should be yes. Despite the recent assent of 2022 second-round pick Christian Watson, Aaron Rodgers could undoubtedly use another weapon (assuming he’s under center in 2023 and beyond for the Pack). Adding some much-needed young talent infusion is just what the doctor ordered for Green Bay, whose current receiver room boasts the likes of the aforementioned Christian Watson, as well as fellow rookie Romeo Doubs, in addition to veterans Randall Cobb and Allen Lazard.
