Jaquelin Roy Scouting Report
Per NFL Draft Buzz, Roy has the following strengths and weaknesses:
Strengths
- Gets his big hands up to block passes if unable to beat his man, and follows the quarterback on moving pockets and sniffs out screens
- Flashes exciting burst off the snap to penetrate. Can slip through gaps with his get-off and is an intimidating force for quarterbacks to avoid
- Roy looks like a potential pro starter and top 120 pick, ideally suited for a team that utilizes a rotation heavy defensive line
- He’s very instinctive when it comes to countering and solid with overall hand usage
Weaknesses
- Inconsistent in his ability to separate from blocks, however, making him more of a nuisance than a snap-to-snap terror
- His spin move is a bit slow and mechanical. He’s susceptible to cut blocks, a tactic that was used on him often
- Good strength, though his marginal arm length limits his ability to grab hold of ballcarriers as they run by

Jaquelin Roy in Mock Drafts
According to NFL Mock Draft Database, Roy is a projected third-round pick. Scouts like a lot of things about Roy but with the depth of the edge class, Roy gets pushed to the later rounds. During the season, Roy snuck into the first round of many mock drafts but has since fallen out. According to NFL Mock Draft Database, he has not appeared in a mock draft since mid-November.
Would Jaquelin Roy Fit on the Packers?
I am lukewarm on the fit of Roy on the Packers. He would be really good in a rotation but the Packers are thin at edge meaning that with one injury, players would be forced into an every-down situation. This minimizes Roy’s impact on the field.
Check Out Another Prospect That Could Fit For the Packers
With that said, Roy seems like the perfect mid-round pick to develop. If the Packers are confident that they can coach up Roy and make him more of an every down edge player, he does have skills that are desirable.
