Jaelyn Duncan: Offensive Tackle, Maryland: NFL Draft Scouting Profile and Projected Draft Position
Jaelyn Duncan Maryland Stats
Duncan has played five years in Maryland and in total has given up 18 sacks. In his five years, all of them have seen Duncan play right tackle.
Jaelyn Duncan Scouting Report
Per NFL Draft Buzz, Duncan has the following strengths and weaknesses:
Strengths
- Duncan has long arms that allow him to survive as a pass protector on the edge, and Duncan typically plays with good balance
- Has a prototypical build for an NFL tackle, with a wide frame and long arms. He’s a mauler in the run game, exploding off the snap and winning with leverage and upper-body strength at the point of attack
- In the run game, he plays with a mean streak and does a nice job generating a push at the initial point of attack. He can get outside and does a decent job landing blocks in space
Weaknesses
- While he’s solid as an athlete, he’s more comfortable moving forward as a run blocker than setting in pass protection, as Duncan too often relies solely on his initial punch to stand up pass rushers instead of moving his feet
- Plagued by choppy footwork and a tendency to set too high in pass protection. Duncan generally plays with poor balance, and he needs to improve core strength

Jaelyn Duncan in Mock Drafts
According to NFL Mock Draft Database, Duncan is a projected second-round pick. The tackle position is one of the most important in football. Duncan has the NFL frame but needs a little more polish. However, there are a lot of drafts that have him going in the first round. Below is a list of mock drafts and where they have Duncan being drafted.
- Walter Football – No. 17 overall: Steelers
- NBC Sports Chicago – No. 31 overall: Chiefs
- College Football News – No. 31 overall: Bengals
- Yahoo Sports – Second round: Rams
Would Jaelyn Duncan Fit on the Packers?
Any offensive lineman is a good fit for the Packers in my opinion. Green Bay has long been able to coach linemen to an All-Pro status. Duncan would be a perfect addition as someone to develop in the last years of David Bakhtiari. The question would be, is the price too high for Duncan?
Check Out Another Prospect That Could Fit For the Packers
The Packers have more pressing needs than tackle. Safety, tight end and wide receiver are positions I would rather see the Packers target in the first two rounds. That being said, I would not hate them picking up Duncan if they chose to do so.
