Eric Gray Scouting Report
Per NFL Draft Buzz, Gray has the following strengths and weaknesses:
Strengths
- Gray runs with violence; he’s capable of thrashing through tacklers, and Gray has the natural balance to withstand contact
- A compact runner, he has a rare blend of balance, agility and instincts
- Bowling-ball runner between the tackles. Flashes a burst in and out of the hole. Lowers his pads and delivers a blow into the chest of defenders. Falls forward on nearly every run due to lean
- He often thrived in the screen game, transitioning upfield quickly and showing a knack for following his blocks. Gray has the size and strength to pass protect
Weaknesses
- He’s more of a cut blocker in pass protection as opposed to a guy who will stick his face in against the blitz, although that is a correctable flaw

Eric Gray in Mock Drafts
According to NFL Mock Draft Database, Gray is a projected fifth-round pick. The running back position is always hard to predict and most prospects do not go very high. This leads to many teams getting a steal of a back in the later rounds. Below is a list of mock drafts and where they have Gray being taken.
- Vikings Wire – Fourth round: Vikings
- Raiders Wire – Fifth round: Raiders
- Bears Wire – Fifth round: Bears
- Seahawks Wire – Fifth round: Seahawks
Would Eric Gray Fit on the Packers?
Running back is always a great position to take in the later rounds and I like Gray as a prospect frankly on any team. Any team can use a compact back that can pass block and have effectiveness in the screen game. The flaws that Gray has are coachable.
Check Out Another Prospect That Could Fit For the Packers
On day 3, teams should take the best player available. If GM Brian Gutekunst has a chance, he might look towards Gray as a tantalizing prospect.
