Devon Achane Scouting Report
Per NFL Draft Buzz, Achane has the following strengths and weaknesses:
Strengths
- Elusive, pogo stick-quick back with excellent initial burst and very good long speed. Gets to top speed quickly
- Is an electrifying player, one of college football’s best playmakers in space
- Cuts on a dime with lightning-fast feet and the quick-twitch explosion of an Olympic sprinter out of the block. Very good vision
- Achane accelerates 0-to-60 and hits top speed fast enough to outrun angles. He’s also flexible and agile, able to keep the pedal to the floor as he turns and weaves
Weaknesses
- As a runner, Achane too often looks to bounce outside and make the big play, rather than pick his way through traffic
- Does most of his work on the perimeter — and ran a lot of fly sweeps
- Offers little in pass protection and poor technique cut blocking, fails to do much to slow down blitzers

Devon Achane in Mock Drafts
According to NFL Mock Draft Database, Achane is a projected third-round pick. Achane has limited use as a back but his athletic ability is too good to pass up in the draft. Below is a list of mock drafts and where they have Achane being drafted.

Would Devon Achane Fit on the Packers?
I love Achane as a fit for the Packers. Pairing speed with speed is something that other teams have had success with. Christian Watson already has elite speed and Achane would bring more home run ability. Matt LaFleur’s offense runs a lot of jet sweeps and plays of that sort. Achane would fit right in.
Check Out Another Prospect That Could Fit For the Packers
The question is will GM Brian Gutekunst use a high draft pick on a third running back? He would help the offense but in a limited role. The Packers might look for a more complete player rather than a gadget player. However, Achane will be one to watch if he is on the board in later rounds.
