Derick Hall Scouting Report
Per NFL Draft Buzz, Hall has the following strengths and weaknesses:
Strengths
- Hall can be used as a rangy run defender inside, instinctive when it comes to locating the ball with the quickness to get to it before blockers can react at the second level
- He has the classic frame and long arms with some explosion, power, and ability to close
- He has the strong core and powerful hands to shed blockers
Weaknesses
- Hall is in a hurry to get upfield but shows poor instincts when locating the ball against the run
- He’s not a guy who can be put on the edge every down and be expected to consistently create pressure

Derick Hall in Mock Drafts
According to NFL Mock Draft Database, Hall is a projected second-round pick. However, because of the amount of talent at the edge position, he does sneak into the first round of many mock drafts. Similar to the cornerback position, it will all depend on how certain people evaluate these players. Below is a list of mock drafts and where they have Hall being drafted.
- The Draft Network – No. 15 overall: Packers
- SB Nation – No. 32 overall: Eagles
Would Derick Hall Fit on the Packers?
The Packers should be looking for an edge player in this year’s draft. The pass rush fell off a cliff once Rashan Gary went down with his ACL injury. The question really is which one. One mock draft has the Packers taking him at no. 15 while some don’t see him being picked in the first round. There are a couple of concerns that I have about Hall as a fit for the Packers.
Check Out Another Prospect That Could Fit For the Packers
The struggles against the run are a problem but I think that can be coached out of him. Many edge prospects are eager to get upfield and just need to learn the discipline of locating the ball during a run play. However, it is the lack of ability to play every down. If the Packers had a huge amount of edge depth, Hall might make sense. The Packers need someone who can play more downs so I see them looking elsewhere.
