Dee Winters in Mock Drafts
Winters is projected as an undrafted free agent at this point. According to NFL Mock Draft Database, there is not a mock draft that has him being picked. His size is most likely the reason. An undersized linebacker will have problems against the run in the NFL. Regardless of how good his abilities are, you cannot teach size.
Would Dee Winters Fit on the Packers?
The linebacker position is an interesting one for the Packers. De’Vondre Campbell and Quay Walker are clearly the starters. Beyond that, there is not much depth in the position. The Packers could look to fill that position in the draft but Winters seems like an unlikely option. GM Brian Gutekunst has tended to favor ultra-athletic big linebackers and Winters does not fit that bill.
Check Out Another TCU Prospect That Could Fit For the Packers
Special teams is the one place that Winters could fit in. His open-field tackling ability could be great on punt and kick returns. It could seem odd to use up draft capital on special teams but every Packers fan knows the importance of the unit. The seventh round especially can be used to take a flyer on players like this. If Winters is in the seventh round and has a good scouting combine, he could sneak his way into being drafted.
