Anthony Richardson Scouting Report
Per NFL Draft Buzz, Richardson has the following strengths and weaknesses:
Strengths
- Impressive athlete, loose-limbed and flexible. Richardson has the speed to pick up yardage in scramble situations.
- May have one of the strongest arms in the class – there is no pass he can’t make
- He has a quick release and a live arm, delivering tight spirals, and he shows good touch at the intermediate levels
- Ball placement at short and intermediate levels is a strength. Richardson moved quickly through progressions when asked to – he’ll likely get better in 2022
Weaknesses
- Has struggled with his decision-making and needs to improve his pre-snap recognition skills to read defenses and see blitzes
- Although he does have a quick release he still often hangs on to the ball too long leading to sacks
- Richardson has a bad habit of fading and throwing off his back foot when the pocket gets muddled, and he is too often all arm when throwing on the move, sacrificing accuracy

Anthony Richardson in Mock Drafts
According to NFL Mock Draft Database, Richardson is a projected first-round pick. Richardson has risen in recent weeks on some boards and many have him right behind Bryce Young and CJ Stroud. The importance of the QB position means that many teams will reach for a QB in the first round. There are many QB-needy teams so it wouldn’t surprise me if Richardson goes high. Below is a list of mock drafts and where they have Richardson being drafted.
- Walter Football – No. 7 overall: Raiders
- Draftwire – No. 7 overall: Raiders
- Yahoo Sports – No. 15 overall: Packers
- San Diego Union-Tribune – No. 16 overall: Commanders
- CBS Sports – No. 20 overall: Seahawks
Would Anthony Richardson Fit on the Packers?
I think Richardson is criminally underrated as a QB prospect. However, I do not like the fit. His athleticism is tantalizing but his difficulty under pressure makes me nervous. I think there are better QB prospects out there that would fit the Packers specifically.

I also do not think this is the draft the Packers take a QB with a high pick. Either Aaron Rodgers or Jordan Love is going to be the QB on the Packers next year. Maybe GM Brian Gutekunst takes a QB on day 3 but I simply do not see QB being a priority in the draft.
