Philadelphia Phillies first baseman Bryce Harper exited Tuesday’s game against the Atlanta Braves after being hit on the right elbow with a 95-mph fastball. Harper did not play in Thursday’s double header against Atlanta.

However, there is a chance that Harper could return for the Phillies when they face the Milwaukee Brewers this weekend at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Entering this series, the Brewers have a 29-28 record, and the Phillies have a 36-20 record. What did Philadelphia’s manager have to say about the latest injury to Harper?
Philadelphia Phillies Manager Rob Thomson Gives Positive Update About Bryce Harper Injury

After the doubleheader with the Braves on Thursday, Rob Thomson, the manager of the Phillies gave an injury update about Harper. He mentioned that the first baseman was “feeling better.” Also, Thomson said before the first game of the doubleheader on Thursday,
““He came in yesterday for treatment. He’s in there now, I believe. Still had swelling, still was in pain, but it was a lot better than we expected.”
During the doubleheader on Thursday, Alec Bohm played both games at first base for the Phillies and Edmundo Sosa played both games at third base for Philadelphia. Thomson also said after the second game about Harper,
“there’s still some swelling in there and he’s still got some pain. We want to knock that out before we run him out there because he’s going to change his swing and it could lead to a lot of problems.”
There is a chance that Harper could be out of the lineup once again for Philadelphia against Milwaukee on Friday night. Despite Thomson mentioning the all-star first baseman feeling better, maybe there is a chance that he could wind up on the 15-day injured list.
In 54 games so far this season, Harper has a .267 batting average with eight home runs and 33 RBIs, along with eight stolen bases. His on-base percentage is .375. If he misses the entire Milwaukee series, then Harper’s injury is more serious than initially thought also.
