The Philadelphia Eagles‘ defense a season ago spiraled toward the end of the season. They are looking to have a different start to the 2024 season on Friday when they have to play the Green Bay Packers in Brazil.
Vic Fangio is the new defensive coordinator for the Eagles for the 2024 season. Philadelphia’s defense will be tested against an elite Packers offense.
Philadelphia Eagles Starting Linebacker Devin White Ruled Out On Friday Against the Green Bay Packers
According to Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer, the Eagles will not have starting linebacker Devin White due to an ankle injury. White is also not traveling with the team to Brazil.
Nakobe Dean will start in place of Devin White on Friday night at linebacker, also according to Jeff McLane. White signed with the Eagles in the offseason. He played with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before signing with Philadelphia.
In 14 games last season with Tampa Bay, he recorded 83 tackles, 2.5 sacks, two interceptions, and six pass deflections. When White returns from injury, it will be interesting to see what kind of impact he will make with the Eagles defense.
Fans React
There were some interesting reactions to the Devin White injury news on Twitter. This is what some of the fans had to say:
I can’t blame him for not wanting to play in Brazil 😭😭

He avoids that authoritarian regime at least in Brazil

It is quite interesting that fans think on Twitter that Devin White is skipping the game because he does not want to be in Brazil. There have been other players on the Philadelphia Eagles who have expressed their concerns about the game being played in Brazil.
Well, what if other fans think that Devin White does not want to face Jordan Love and the Green Bay Packers offense? In all seriousness, this is a huge loss for the Eagles’ defense against the Packers.
