The Green Bay Packers may need to make some moves this off-season in order to convince Aaron Rodgers to stay with the Packers. Shoring up a few pieces on offense would be a big step in the right direction. The tight end position for Green Bay has been iffy at best since Robert Tonyan’s big 2020 season. That year he tied a franchise record (for tight ends) with 11 receiving touchdowns. Tonyan is a free agent this offseason and it is up in the air if Green Bay will bring him back. As it turns out, however, another tight end may be on the market. Mike Gesicki posted a heartfelt goodbye to Miami on social media today.
Mike Gesicki Says Goodbye To Miami Dolphins
In a twitter post today, Mike Gesicki posted a heartfelt message to Miami fans today:
I remember moving down to South Florida at the age of 22 ready to live out my lifelong dream of playing in the NFL when the Miami Dolphins full-filled that dream. I knew I was prepared for the next step but what I didn’t know was how much South Florida was goin to mean to me and how at home I felt by the TRUE Miami Dolphins fans these past 5 years. I will never forget the feelings of adrenaline going through my body after my first career catch vs Tennessee in my first game and I still get chills thinking about the intensity, the passion, and the LOVE I felt from the support of our fans the last time I was announced in the line up before our final home game this season against the Jets.
He later ends the message with “No matter what and no matter where the show goes on.” Gesicki very well could have played his last game for the Dolphins, and that could be music to the Packers’ ears. While 2022 was a bit of a drop off for Gesicki, he ended his five year career in Miami with 231 receptions, 2,617 receiving yards, and 18 touchdowns. Aaron Rodgers has always loved to his tight ends in the passing game. The Packers haven’t had a consistent pure pass-catching tight end in a long time.
Gesicki would thrive in the Green Bay offense and his presence could spark a big turnaround for a franchise that was expected to be a Super Bowl contender this year. Not to mentioned the Packers’ red-zone struggles could drastically improve with a guy like Gesicki lined up. Mike Gesicki was labled as a “perfect fit” for Green Bay last offseason. This is a name that Green Bay needs to pick up the phones for this offseason.
