The Packers had arguably the best offense in the NFL in 2020. Clearly the whole world did not expect the offense for the Packers to be that good. The Packers did prove lots of people wrong in 2020 with how explosive the offense was. Despite that, many believe that the Packers offense was not good enough and still question the offense now. Like in 2020, many are still underestimating the Packers offense going into 2021. Here is why many should not be underestimating the Packers offense going into 2021.
Allen Lazard Was Not Fully Healthy In The Offense Down The Stretch
The Packers offense was devastated by injuries down the stretch. They did pretty well to overcome the injuries and still be explosive on offense. Allen Lazard is a huge piece to the Packers offense. He was off to a hot start in 2020 and was on pace for 900 plus yards and nine touchdowns. Unfortunately, after his huge game against the New Orleans Saints, he suffered a core injury. Lazard missed a month, but even when he returned he was not at full strength. He still played fairly well when he was not fully recovered. I believe a fully healthy Lazard will be important to the Packers offense in 2021. With an off-season to get healthy, he should be ready to go.
The Tight End Group Can Open Up the Packers Offense Even More
It is not talked about enough about the tight end group for the Packers. This was a position that was desperately needed for years and now they have it. They are ded by Robert Tonyan who was tied for first in touchdowns with eleven. Behind Tonyan is a pretty good group as well like Josiah Deguara who is coming back from a torn ACL in 2021. They also have the leadership of Marcedes Lewis who will be here for two more seasons. The tight end group showed good signs in 2020 and all five members that position will be with the Packers in 2021. We do not know if they keep five tight ends, but all have something to bring this offense. That group will be interesting to watch this year.
The Offensive Line Will Still Be In Good Shape
The offense does not get talked enough how the Packers do a good job protecting Aaron Rodgers. Say what you want about the receivers, but the offensive line has been incredible. The offensive line will still be in good shape despite losing Corey Linsley in free agency. Also, David Bahktiari will might not be back for a while after tearing his ACL in December. Despite that, the Packers should be fine on the offensive line. They are top notch when it comes to the offensive line and protecting Aaron Rodgers. The track record on offensive line and linemen are pretty impressive. Not to mention having a good coach like Adam Stenavich can help overcome the obstacles in front of them. Expect the Packers offensive line as always to be good in 2021.
Packers Do Not Need To Look Good On Paper to Be a Good Offense
The Packers offense when looked at by other on paper it does not look that good. Yet on the other hand that does not mean anything. The Packers offense does not have the top notch talent compared to other offenses in the NFL. Still they managed to have the number one scoring offense in the league. Yes they could and should have made moves to improve, especially at the wide receiver position. Still the Packers believe they have the talent in house to be good on offense and after the 2020 season you cannot blame them. They have a bunch of guys who all bought into the offense. That is gonna be the same group that can hopefully prove people wrong in 2021.
