There have been many people who have praised the hire of Luke Fickell. Especially after the week he has had in the recruiting realm, Fickell has no shortage of fans. It seems Fickell has also caught the attention of one of the most well-known college football analysts. Paul Finebaum recently had huge praise for Wisconsin head coach Luke Fickell.
Paul Finebaum Praises Luke Fickell
It is often hard to impress Paul Finebaum, especially if you are in the Big Ten. However, Finebaum is in love with Wisconsin hiring Luke Fickell. In a recent interview with Rutgers Wire, Finebaum had this to say.
“I think it’s a phenomenal hire. I do know Luke Fickell pretty well as I covered him last year in the playoffs and in Vegas for the NFL Draft.”
“And what does that mean?,” Paul Finebaum said. “It means you get a chance to get a little closer to somebody that maybe you wouldn’t otherwise.”
“And I think he’s an elite coach. I think he would probably be the Notre Dame coach today, perhaps if his team was not in the playoffs a year ago. And I think, frankly, it’s another sensational hire.”
Paul Finebaum makes it pretty clear what he thinks of Luke Fickell. He calls him an “elite coach” that will get you closer to recruits that Wisconsin had no chance at prior.
Seeing The Elite Recruiting
We haven’t been able to see Fickell’s coaching on the field, but we have gotten the first taste of his recruiting prowess. He has been able to get a string of recruits to commit to Wisconsin, with many more having the Badgers in their list of top schools. With the coaching staff that Fickell has assembled, I would expect this talent to translate to productivity on the field.
Wisconsin fans didn’t need the Paul Finebaum stamp of approval on Luke Fickell. But it sure isn’t a bad thing to hear. We will get a first look at Fickell’s coaching when Wisconsin faces Oklahoma State in the Guaranteed Rate Bowl on December 27th.
