Former Milwaukee Bucks guard Patrick Beverley has called out the haters now that his former team is through to the NBA Cup final, saying it’s time for the fans to acknowledge Doc Rivers’ role in their turnaround this season.
After a 2-8 start, the Milwaukee Bucks are now 14-11, good for fifth in the Eastern Conference standings.
“I haven’t heard any Doc Rivers slander at all lately,” Beverley said on his podcast. “I hear zero talk about the Milwaukee Bucks and how they’re not good while they’ve been missing Khris Middleton for damn near the whole season.”
“And they’re not even giving him credit for it. They don’t wanna give him no love for it. They’re literally picking other people, and talking about their Player of the Month. How? But go get it out of the mud, Greek. We don’t want it the easy way,” Beverley added.
Milwaukee Bucks’ journey in the 2024 NBA Cup
The Milwaukee Bucks have gotten this far because they’re unbeaten in the NBA Cup. They went 4-0 in Group B of the Eastern Conference and defeated the Magic and the Hawks in the knockout phase.
After missing out on the Eastern Conference Player of the Month award last October and November, Giannis Antetokounmpo could win it for December since he has put up video game numbers. Across his six regular season appearances this month, the Greek Freak averaged 32.0 points, 10.2 rebounds, 4.7 assists, and 2.0 blocks per game.
Meanwhile, co-star Damian Lillard averaged 25.2 points, 4.5 rebounds, 6.8 assists, and 1.2 steals per game during the same period.
