The 2023 Green Bay Packers could look significantly different than this year’s team. Heck, it was a big transition from 2021-2022. However, the 2022-2023 transition could be even more drastic. One of the biggest questions going into the 2023 season will be if Aaron Rodgers will still be the Quarterback. That could be out of the Packers’ control if Rodgers decides to hang up his cleats. Today on The Pat McAfee Show, Aaron Rodgers was asked about his intentions regarding retirement. He had a lot to say.
Aaron Rodgers Answers Retirement Question On Pat McAfee Show
It’s no secret that Aaron Rodgers is getting closer to the end of his playing career. Rodgers is currently 38 years old and it’s rare to see a quarterback play well into his 40s. Tom Brady and Brett Favre may be the only exceptions. Pat McAfee, a well-documented friend of Aaron Rodgers, asked the 4-Time MVP QB that very question today. This is what he had to say:
“When you’re in it, obviously the focus is on the season,” Rodgers said. “The focus is on the preparation. That doesn’t change but it also doesn’t change the fact that you can’t have interests outside of the game that you take your mind to from time to time. There is life outside of football during the season and I think it’s important to keep that balance. I’m not looking forward to the end and life after football is going to be a tough transition but I don’t know when that’s gonna be.”
Have you thought at all about life after football?

What Happens To The Packers If Aaron Rodgers Retires?
If Rodgers decided to retire after the 2022 season, Green Bay would suffer for one year (salary cap-wise) and then be free to move on. Rodgers would count for $40.3M against the cap in 2023. However, starting in 2024 they would have no obligations to pay #12 and would be able to start the rebuild. This is the best option for Green Bay if he is in-fact not the starting QB in Green Bay after 2022. This article breaks down all four options Green Bay has with Rodgers’ contract.
