The Green Bay Packers had quite the task ahead of them after the Davante Adams trade. Not only that, but they lost Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Equanimeous St. Brown to free agency. To help makeup for the offense they lost, the Packers used three of their 11 draft picks on wide receivers. While Christian Watson, who was drafted in the second round is getting the most hype, fourth-round pick Romeo Doubs is the one turning heads during OTAs.

Romeo Doubs Made the Catch of the Day at OTAs
While there is no video footage of the drills at OTAs, there are plenty of reporters and analysts who are able to be in attendance. On Tuesday, Romeo Doubs made a sideline catch that brought back images of Jordy Nelson, whose number (87) now belongs to Doubs.
Play of the day so far just now: Kurt Benkert with a dime in the wind for a big gain down the left sideline to Romeo Doubs, who made a really nice back shoulder grab a la former fellow No. 87 Jordy Nelson.

WR Romeo Doubs the standout in the skelly 2-minute drill. Had three catches, including a great back-shoulder grab. #Packers

Ooo Romeo Doubs with a fantastic catch down the sidelines. Contorts his body on a beautiful back shoulder throw from Benkert. Really nice catch with Ento in coverage.

Romeo Doubs Is Also Getting a Look as Kick Returner at OTAs
Not only is Romeo Doubs turning heads as a wide receiver, he is also receiving some reps on special teams as a kick returner during OTAs. This is something that he did in college, and excelled at.

The kick returner position, of course, has been one of frustration for the Green Bay Packers since 1996. Ever since Desmond Howard’s otherworldly season, the Packers have struggled to field a capable kick returner. Despite using players like Tramon Williams and Randall Cobb in the role, the position has been relatively unproductive.
Many thought Amari Rodgers would be the Packers’ answer for the role last season, but underwhelmed in a big way. So frustrating was Rodgers that he even lost that role, which was his main source of playing time.
Romeo Doubs May Be the Steal of the Draft
If the reports coming out of Packers OTAs are to be believed, Romeo Doubs is the rookie wide receiver that fans should be most excited about. Christian Watson has had some drop issues in camp while Doubs is catching nearly everything thrown his way.
Romeo Doubs was a fourth round draft pick, but put up some pretty serious numbers over his last two seasons at Nevada. In 2020, he hauled in 59 receptions for 1,002 yards and nine touchdowns. Doubs was even better in 2021 when he had 80 receptions for 1,109 yards and 11 touchdowns.
Having Jordy Nelson’s old number 87 may be a sign of things to come for the young Packers receiver.
