This Packers rookie wide receivers stock is going up
Four weeks into his first season, Romeo Doubs is turning heads. The Packers’ rookie wide receiver caught his first touchdown in Week 3. He followed it up with his second touchdown on Sunday against the New England Patriots. Doubs is already chasing some impressive records this season.
Doubs is also catching the attention of fantasy football players. According to Nathan Jahnke of PFF, Doubs should be one of the most coveted wide receivers in fantasy free agency. He’s only in 45 percent of the league’s roster. But Jahnke gave reasons why that will change this week.
“Doubs went from leading a rotation at wide receiver to being one of the two clear starters in Green Bay. He and Allen Lazard were tied in offensive snaps and targets. Lazard had more receiving yards, but Doubs had the touchdown.
His 24 targets are good for 30th-best on the season despite him playing a rotational role earlier in the season. His playing time doesn’t have any higher to go, but he could become a clear leader in targets on the team sooner rather than later, catching passes from the former MVP.
Both Randall Cobb and Christian Watson shared time in the slot when Green Bay ran three-receiver sets. Watson’s percentage of offensive snaps has declined each week since he started playing.”
Doubs’ stock as a wide receiver is rising with Aaron Rodgers too
Packers Quarterback Aaron Rodgers appears to have found a reliable target in Doubs. Rodgers made comments after Week 3 that he wanted to find more opportunities for Doubs. Doubs followed up in Week 4 by grabbing five catches for 47 yards and a touchdown. He now has 19 catches for 184 yards and two touchdowns on the season. Doubs will have a more formidable challenge this week. The Packers will be in London to play a top ten passing defense in the Giants.
