The Green Bay Packers won in Chicago once again. Or should I say, won at Lambeau Field South, once again. The win moves the Packers to 5-8 on the season and increased their chances at a playoff spot. While they are likely vying for that seventh seed, work still needs to be done. The first matter of business is Green Bay winning every game they have left on the schedule. They need to have a “run the table” type of stretch. How much did their playoff odds increase with the win? It nearly doubled.
The Green Bay Packers Increased Their Playoffs Odds With Win
While it wasn’t drastic, their playoff chances nearly doubled with their win in Chicago. According to Matt Schneidman’s playoff odds guru, the Packers’ chances to make the postseason went from 6% entering this weekend to 11.5%. Even though it “doubled” that still leaves an 88.5% chance they don’t make it. A lot of things still need to go right if the Packers are going to make the postseason, but this weekend was a step in the right direction.
The Packers currently sit 10th in the NFC playoffs standings with a record of 5-8. The three teams that sit ahead of them are the Detroit Lions (5-7), Washington Commanders (7-5-1), and the Seattle Seahawks (7-5). Currently, the Seahawks hold that seventh and final playoff spot. Tomorrow night on Monday Night Football the Saints (4-8) play the Buccaneers (5-6). The Buccaneers look to win their division with a mediocre record, so a Saints loss would bode well for Green Bay. The Packers have a bye next week, but there will still be plenty of football that impacts the Packers in week 14.
