Packers tight end Tucker Kraft has quickly risen quarterback Jordan Love’s target hierarchy, and is on the cusp of setting a new franchise record, as a result.
Not only has Kraft become one of the Packers’ most prolific weapons in the passing game, but is in the midst of one of the finest starts to a career in the storied history of the franchise.
When the Packers take on the Saints Monday night at Lambeau Field, Kraft has the chance not only to impact the game but make some history in the process, as well.
Tucker Kraft Approaching New Franchise Record
Through his first two NFL seasons, Kraft has already caught 72 passes for 910 yards and nine touchdowns, including setting new career highs in all three categories so far this season.
However, as Jacob Morley points out, Kraft needs just seven receptions to pass Richard Rodgers for the most by a Packers tight end through the first two seasons of his career.
There’s a legitimate possibility that Kraft breaks the record in Week 16, as the Saints enter Monday night having allowed seven or more receptions to opposing tight ends eight times so far this season.
While quickly becoming one of the most prolific players to play the position in Packers history, Kraft is also quickly garnering the respect of his teammates for his physical and relentless style of play.
“He’s a little crazy, but I love it,” Packers running back Josh Jacobs said of Kraft, via ESPN. “Crazy in all the good ways, you see the way he plays, man.
“It’s fun playing with a guy like that, that’ll put his body on the line for you, get hit by four people to get a first down, things like that. You’ve got to love teammates like that.”
