The Green Bay Packers are in the midst of training camp as they prepare for the 2021 season. From now until the end up camp in late August, Wisconsin Sports Heroics will bring you the most important notes from each day’s practices.
Rashan Gary Is Back
Yesterday, Rashan Gary was listed on the injury report with a sore groin. After the amazing camp that he has had, it was worrisome to see him out. However, he is back to practice after only missing one day.
Only change to #Packers injury list is CB Stanford Samuels is out and OLB Rashan Gary is back after a 1-day absence.

Undrafted Free Agents Turning Heads
In particular, undrafted free agent safety Innis Gaines has been making some nice plays in camp. Today, he had an interception in the team’s one-on-one’s drill. Gaines played his college ball at TCU.
Innis Gaines int in one on ones. The best udfa at camp so far IMO.

Davante Adams Is a Human Cheat Code
This should be no surprise to anyone following the ridiculous season Adams had last year. All camp long, Adams has been making life miserable for the Packers’ corners. If Adams has anything like the success he is having in camp during the regular season, there will not be a single team in the NFL who could meet his contract demands.

MVS vs. Stokes
Last season, MVS was the consensus fastest player on the team. Now he is challenged by rookie cornerback Eric Stokes. Today in practice, they were matched up together in goal line drills.
Awesome battle in goaline 1x1s between MVS and Stokes. Great coverage but MVS skies for the catch. However he’s ruled out of bounds.

This should be an exciting matchup to watch all throughout camp. MVS has been playing very well, as was mentioned yesterday. Stokes has been struggling against Adams in camp, but it is nice to see him see a little success here.
Great Defense and Kylin Hill
One of the issues with the Packers’ defense last season was breaking down in coverage. Under Joe Barry, those issues are dissolving as was seen in several plays during practice.
Amari Rodgers takes a handoff and cuts up field. Not much there.
Rodgers has all day to throw off play action but nowhere to go. Defense had great coverage.
Nice run by Kylin Hill. And then another one. Packers found a gem in Kylin Hill. His vision is 💯 and his cuts are $$$.

It is interesting here that Amari Rodgers is getting some handoffs. This is not a play that the Packers ran very much last season, which goes to show just how much he brings to the offense. However, the defense, which struggled against the run last season, proved too difficult to beat.
If Aaron Rodgers cannot find an open man, then the defense has done a phenomenal job. This should be a very promising sign as the regular season draws close.
Kylin Hill is really coming on in camp, and is arguably a favorite among everyone who is covering the team. Watch for this seventh round pick to make the roster as the Packers’ third running back.
Adrian Amos Is Picking Up Where He Left Off
Adrian Amos was not a Pro Bowl safety last season, but he should have been. He is incredibly quick and has good instincts. Today, he broke up a nice pass after ranging from halfway across the field to make the play.
Adrian Amos covers every inch of the field. He just had an incredible PBU on a pass from Rodgers.
Randall Cobb with a perfect out route and turned up field for a big gain.

TJ Slaton Is Going to Be a Problem
Fifth round draft pick TJ Slaton has been having a very nice camp thus far. Slaton is six foot four and 330 pounds. As an interior lineman, he has the ability to stuff up holes to stop the run. Additionally, he presents a formidable mountain that opposing quarterbacks must throw over.
Looks like TJ Slaton just came up with a big deflection on an Aaron Rodgers pass.
Good luck trying to throw over that monster of a man.
