Packers get historic news days after Week 2 win against Commanders

The Green Bay Packers are easily one of the most popular franchises in the NFL. They have a huge following and a loyal fanbase. They also have a rich history. And speaking of which, Green Bay, together with the Washington Commanders, made history during their meeting in Week 2’s edition of Thursday Night Football at Lambeau Field.

On Monday, Prime Video shared the news that the game between the Packers and the Commanders was the most-watched regular-season game ever.

Via Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk:

Thursday’s Commanders-Packers game drew an audience of 17.76 million viewers, making it the most-watched game since Prime got the rights to Thursday Night Football. (Prime also shows one playoff game a year, and playoff games generate bigger audiences.)

Prime also announced that its Thursday night pregame and postgame shows both had record-high viewership, with 2.13 million for pregame and 2.79 million for postgame.

The hype keeps on growing for the Packers

Before the Commanders game, Green Bay met with the Detroit Lions at Lambeau Field in Week 1. According to CBS Sports, it was the most-watched Week 1 contest since the NFL started airing games on CBS in 1998.

Regardless of the ratings, the only focus for Jordan Love and company is on winning the Super Bowl and bringing home the Vince Lombardi Trophy. That is going to be easier said than done, but a 2-0 record from wins against 2024 season playoff teams speaks volumes about the high quality of the 2025 Green Bay team.

The Packers will put their undefeated record on the line this coming Sunday, when they square off against the Cleveland Browns for Green Bay’s first game away from home.
