The Green Bay Packers will be getting Robert Tonyan back at some point this season. When they do, they will be getting back a player who is ready to go out and prove that he is still one of the best pass-catching tight ends in the NFL. He recently appeared on an episode of Bussin’ with the Boys, hosted by Will Compton. In his interview, Tonyan discussed the Super Bowl expectations in Green Bay and what he expects from himself post-injury.
Robert Tonyan Sat Back and Watched Last Season, and Learned a Great Deal
Robert Tonyan was injured in the Packers’ Week Eight victory over the Arizona Cardinals. Afterwards, he elected to remain with the team throughout the season. Getting to sit back and watch how they played and, more importantly, how they responded to adversity allowed him to figure out what it will take to get over the hump and into the Super Bowl.
Really interesting insight from Robert Tonyan on why he thinks the #Packers haven’t been able to get over the hump in recent years to reach the Super Bowl. @BussinWTB pic.twitter.com/Cs9yMwf0B8

In this segment of the interview, Tonyan described how the Packers got down on themselves as the season went on. Despite winning games, they lacked confidence. “We’re a 13-3, a 14-3 team. This is a winning football program. That is our identity,” Tonyan said.
When it comes to getting over the NFC Championship Game hump, Tonyan said, “We need to stay true to ourselves for a longer period of time.” He then described how sometimes the team will jump out to big leads early, but then slowly allow teams back into games. This is something that has frustrated Packers fans in each of the past two seasons especially. If we’re going to say “All gas, no brakes,” then let us truly have all gas and no brakes.
The Offense Will Be Different without Davante Adams
Of course, the topic of what the offense will look like without Davante Adams will look like. Tonyan said he is excited to come back and contribute and be “that guy” on offense again. He said, “I’m smiling internally, because some people forgot.”
Dude when he said

Interestingly, Tonyan discusses, too, that he may not be in Green Bay had he not gotten injured. If he had been up for a big contract, it is certainly possible that he would have been offered more money elsewhere. He is glad, by the way, that he is not elsewhere. Tonyan cited a great defense and the best quarterback of all time as things that any player wants when planning on winning a Super Bowl.
Hopefully Tonyan can use what he learned from sitting back and watching to help the Packers avoid that mental fog that seems to overtake them in later months of the season. If they are able to do that, the Packers do have the personel (on paper) to make it to and win the Super Bowl.
