It is no secret what the Packers wide receiver room currently looks like. After the departure of Davante Adams, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, and E.Q. St. Brown, Allen Lazard is the Packers’ #1 wide receiver. With Randall Cobb and Amari Rodgers backing Lazard up, Green Bay is on the hunt for more. Here are three names that could help Green Bay in 2022 that wouldn’t break the bank:
Keelan Cole:
Keelan Cole is a very interesting prospect. Over the last two seasons he has accumulated over 1,100 yards and 6 touchdowns. The teams he has played with over the last two years? The Jaguars and Jets.
His quarterback play hasn’t exactly been what you’d hope for as a wide receiver… The 6’1″ 190 pound wide receiver will turn 29 this year. He ran a 4.33 40 yard dash coming out of college and has kept that speed throughout his NFL career. He would be a low risk high reward type signing if the Packers got him on a cheap deal.

Packers fans may remember the time Cole returned a punt for a 91-yard touchdown against Green Bay in 2020. He also added a 12-yard receiving touchdown, becoming the first player in NFL history to have a punt return touchdown and a receiving touchdown against the Packers in the same game. He was playing for Jacksonville at the time. Cole is a talented prospect who could flourish with Rodgers as his QB.
Cole Beasley:
While Green Bay isn’t necessarily looking for another slot wide receiver, Beasley is coming off back to back 82 reception seasons. He’s had over 1,500 yards over the last two seasons and consistently proves to be a reliable outlet. If Lafleur could find a way to make Lazard, Amari Rodgers, and Beasley all compliment via different schemes, it could be a nightmare for defenses.

Beasley also played through broken ribs in 2021. He is as tough and reliable as they come.
Sammy Watkins:
Sammy Watkins (unlike many of the other free agent wide receivers) still has age on his side. The 28 year old wide receiver appeared in 13 games in 2021 and ended with 27 receptions, 394 yards, and 1 reception. He did however average over 14 yards per reception.

His explosiveness is still there, if he can maintain his health his deep threat ability is exactly what Matt Lafleur is looking for. Even if he doesn’t have the ball thrown to him, being able to extend the secondary is huge for Lafleur’s schemes.
Any one of these receivers signed before the draft would help immensely with Green Bay taking “best player available” and not stuck on wide receiver for any one pick. Veteran wide receiver depth is exactly what this offense needs and what Aaron Rodgers can use to win games.
