Packers make Super Bowl era history after dismantling Commanders in TNF game

The Green Bay Packers are looking scary. Through two games in the 2025 NFL regular season, Micah Parsons and company have put together a 2-0 record, convincingly defeating two teams that went to the NFL playoffs just last season.

After crushing the Detroit Lions at Lambeau Field in Green Bay in Week 1, 27-13, the Packers demolished the Washington Commanders, 27-18, on Thursday, also at home.

Just like in the Lions game, Green Bay dominated on both sides of the ball versus Washington. Jordan Love passed for 292 yards and two touchdowns with zero interceptions while completing 19 of his 31 pass attempts, while tight end Tucker Kraft exploded for 124 receiving yards and a touchdown on six receptions and seven targets.

The Packers arguably looked even fiercer on defense. Green Bay held Jayden Daniels and the Commanders to just 230 total yards.

So great was the Packers’ stop unit in the Washington game that it completed a feat not seen before in the NFL since the start of the Super Bowl era.

    Via OptaSTATS:

In both of their games this season, the @packers have:

    notched 4+ sacks
allowed 60 rushing yards or less
allowed 200 net passing yards or less

No other NFL team in the Super Bowl era has done that in each of the first 2 games of a season.

Green Bay’s pass rush was unforgiving anew, with Daniels getting sacked four times for a loss of 21 yards. On the ground, the Commanders only generated 51 rushing yards on 19 carries for a mere average of 2.7 yards per attempt.

The Packers will shoot for a 3-0 start in the 2025 campaign when they face off against the Cleveland Browns on the road in Week 3.
