To say that the Green Bay Packers came out flat (once again) in their Week One loss to the Vikings would be an understatement. On the other hand, stating that being embarrassed for the second year in a row in a Week One loss has lit a fire under them would be very accurate. Following Friday’s practice, star cornerback Jaire Alexander stated that he has high expectations for the defense in Week Two.

Jaire Alexander Wants to Shutout the Chicago Bears
Given the fact that Justin Jefferson lit up the defense for 189 receiving yards and two touchdowns, it was some kind of achievement that the Packers defense held the Vikings to 23 points. While much has been said about Joe Barry’s game plan, the Packers’ defense has not let the Week One loss get them down. In fact, Jaire Alexander is shooting for a shutout on Sunday.
Jaire Alexander makes his expectations for #Packers defense against Bears clear: “I want a shutout. I would be excited with a shutout. I would be super happy. Because there’s been a lot of talk about the defense.”

He also took a few shots at the Bears and their fans:
#Packers CB Jaire Alexander says he enjoys playing against Bears because it’s a “good game” when they meet. Of course, lopsided nature of this rivalry doesn’t hurt.
“It’s fun. It’s exciting,” Alexander says. “I always say, ‘Things could be a lot worse. I could be a Bears fan.’”

A shutout sure would be quite the achievement. The last time there was a shutout in a game between the Bears and Packers was in 2006. Unfortunately, the Bears won that game by a score of 26-0. Prior to that, the last shutout was back in 1988. This was another contest the Bears won, this time 16-0. The Bears also shutout the Packers in 1977 and 1978. In fact, the last time that the Packers shutout the Bears was all the way back on December 16, 1973.
