College Career
De’Vondre Campbell played his college ball at Minnesota. There, he enjoyed a three-year career in which he first saw the field as a sophomore. In his three seasons, he accumulated over 200 tackles. His best season was his senior season in 2015 when he had 92 tackles (6.5 for loss), four sacks, one interception, and one forced fumble.
After finishing his college playing days, Campbell was drafted in the fourth round (115th overall) by the Atlanta Falcons.
Four Years with the Falcons
De’Vondre Campbell was thrust right into action as a rookie in 2016. The Falcons played him at right outside linebacker, where he appeared in 11 games (10 of them starts). Campbell recorded 48 tackles (five for loss), an interception, and seven passes defended.
Campbell became the full-time starter on the right side in 2017, where he played all 16 games that season. He more than doubled his tackles from his rookie season, recording 92 and his first two career sacks.
In 2018, Campbell was moved once again, this time to the middle linebacker position. There, he once again played all 16 games (13 starts) and, again, increased his tackle total from the previous year (he had 94 in 2018).
Ever the team player, Campbell moved positions again when asked to in 2019. This time, he was slated as the left outside lineback, where he enjoyed the best season of his young career. In 2019, Campbell totalled 129 tackles, two sacks, two interceptions, and two forced fumbles.
One Year with Arizona
De’Vondre Campbell spent last season with the Arizona Cardinals. He had another solid season playing left inside linebacker, recording 99 tackles and two sacks.
How Campbell Fits the Packers
Middle linebacker was a massive hole in the Packers’ defense last season. Campbell not only is a good run defender, but has shown success in pass coverage as well. In addition, he is highly durable, having played 16 games in four consecutive seasons. Health was a great concern at the position last year, and the Packers are poised to have a healthy veteran competing for a starting inside linebacker job this season.
