The Green Bay Packers dominated the New Orleans Saints from start to finish in a 34-0 win on Monday night football. With the win, Green Bay improved to 11-4 on the season and New Orleans dropped to 5-10 on the year.
The Packers can not win the division, but they can still get the number five seed. At one point in the fourth quarter, Jordan Love was pulled for Malik Willis to get Willis some reps in the blowout.
Green Bay Packers Insider Reveals That They Should Not Trade Quarterback Malik Willis This Offseason
Willis entered the game in the fourth quarter for Green Bay. In the game, he completed 1-of-2 passes for 34 yards. Malik Willis has been a very reliable backup quarterback all season long for the Packers. Jordan Love was smiling on the sideline when Willis completed his lone pass of the game in the fourth quarter.
A fan tweeted out to Matt Schneidman of The Athletic after Willis came into the ball game. Schneidman posted on his Twitter account:
Malik Willis still has another season left on his rookie contract after this one. Packers shouldn’t trade him unless a team offers a first, maybe a second, which I’d be shocked at. How many teams look as competent as the Packers without their starter? You gotta hold onto him. https://t.co/44nr9uKDij

It will be interesting to see if some desperate NFL team will want him. He was with the Tennessee Titans before the start of the 2024 season. Will Levis has not played well for them. Levis has been benched this year for Mason Rudolph. Malik Willis would have been starting for Tennessee, but many wonder if he would be performing as well as he has been with the Green Bay Packers.
Fans React
Hopefully, he wants to stick around for development with a short extension. He’s not a proven starter yet, so he comes with risk for any team offering him QB1 money.

Just proves once again that a good teacher and sitting will do far more for a young QB than starting right away.

I’d be in no hurry to trade away Malik. He showed how valuable a competent back up is. If he had gone 0.500 in his starts we might still be scrapping for the final wild card spot.

The selfish part of me really wants to maintain that Love/Willis duo as long as we can.

There are a lot of Packers fans who want to keep Malik Willis as Jordan Love’s backup quarterback. That was the biggest question for Green Bay entering the 2024 season and it appears as if they got that one right. As for developmental stuff with quarterbacks in the NFL, teams need to do a better job developing quarterbacks and it appears as if the Green Bay Packers are one of the best in the business in regards to developing them.
