Green Bay Packers fans expressed excitement over the prospect of having Tee Higgins on the team in the new season.
Such reactions are natural and expected as Higgins is one of the more exciting players in the league and the team’s wide receivers position is one area that needs a lift.
Cincinnati Bengals, of course, would not allow Higgins to go without them getting something in return. So, how can the Packers get the services of the 25-year-old wide receiver?
They’re gonna have to let go their main WR.
ESPN’s Ben Solak said Higgins could be a good match for the Wisconsin-based team but a major move must be made to make it happen.
While I love the versatility of the Packers’ wide receiver room (when it is healthy), they could use a clear WR1 who can take over games with consistent eight-plus-target outings.
Expect them to be in the Tee Higgins hunt, but if getting him gets too expensive for them, they could package someone like Romeo Doubs — who will be in the final year of his rookie deal in 2025 — to grab a frustrated star from another team.
Tee Higgins and Romeo Doubs’ current situation with team
Higgins being at the center of trade rumors is because of that the fact that he is set to enter the free agency this offseason.
He was hit with a franchise tag last season and getting a second one from Bengals who missed the playoffs this season is unlikely.
He is an in demand player, with CBS reporting that he will sign a massive deal with the Washington Commanders.
As for Doubs, he is entering his contract year. He got injured in their wildcard round loss to the Philadelphia Eagles and it might affect his standing with the team.
There are rumors that the Packers are not high on re-signing him.
