Every Green Bay Packers fan in the last 15 years has shared in the frustration of playoff failure. Despite fielding regular-season juggernauts, the franchise has not returned to the Promised Land since Aaron Rodgers hoisted a Lombardi Trophy in Super Bowl XLV.
Team writer Zach Kruse of Packers Wire hammered home the pain with a startling side-by-side measuring wins from September through the first week of January against recent appearances in the Big Game.
Regular season wins since 2011 season
1. NE: 158 (5 Super Bowl appearances)
1. KC: 158 (6 Super Bowl appearances)
3. GB: 155 (0 Super Bowl appearances)
4. SEA: 154 (3 Super Bowl appearances) pic.twitter.com/cySlh4RrQF— Zach Kruse (@zachkruse2) February 4, 2026
The GIF says it all. The Packers’ postseason performance has been as gut-wrenching as it is shocking for a team with that much regular-season success to its name.
So close yet so far away, the Packers have failed to crack the playoff code for 15 seasons and counting
In the playoffs under Matt LaFleur Green Bay is 3-6, covering five appearances in seven seasons. Under Mike McCarthy before that, the Packers went 5-6 following the 2010 Super Bowl. Overall, then, they have won 40% of their games (8-12) despite going 155-87-3 in the regular season (63.9%).

Facing postseason opponents, of course, it’s only natural that the games get harder, but the sheer amount of success Green Bay has had should, as the comparison suggests, lead to at least semi-regular participation in Super Bowls.
The year after XLV, the Packers rode a 15-1 team into the playoffs, only to go one and done versus the Giants in the Division Round. From 2019-2021 with LaFleur and Rodgers, they won 13 games every year and produced two wins to show for it.
Since then, they have not dominated regular season months to the same degree, squeaking in as a seven-seed each of the past three years. Only once in the past four seasons have the Packers reached double-digit wins. After suffering consecutive first-round exits, they remain stuck at just one playoff victory since 2020.
All that is to say nothing of the agonizing, at times inexcusable fashion in which these postseason flops have come. Fans got more of the same this season with a botched extra point and two missed field goals proving the difference in a 31-27 loss to the Bears, though with a myriad of injuries this year’s team was unlikely to go far regardless.

It’s nonetheless a bitter pill to swallow that both teams in Sunday’s matchup are coming off consecutive seasons missing the playoffs. The Patriots won eight games combined in 2023 and 2024. The Seahawks haven’t won a playoff game since 2019 but find themselves in their third Super Bowl in 13 seasons. This much is true: until the Packers get back to a Super Bowl, all the regular season wins in the world will leave the franchise feeling hollow.
