Green Bay Packers running back AJ Dillon had his best game of the season on Sunday against the Chicago Bears. Dillon tied his season high in rushing attempts with 18, and he also had his most rushing yards in a game this season with 93. In addition, Dillon had a 21-yard touchdown run during the fourth quarter which helped lead Green Bay to a comeback victory. The Packers went on to score 18 points in the fourth quarter after trailing 19-10 to Chicago.
Starting running back Aaron Jones was limited on Sunday after he appeared to aggravate a shin injury that he’s been dealing with since the week prior. However, Dillon seized his opportunity and helped lead the Packers to a much-needed victory. Dillon credits a new-found strength for his success against the Bears.
AJ Dillon Credits “Dad Strength” In Win Against Chicago
For a running back to have a successful performance, the offensive line is a key factor. Apparently, ‘dad strength’ is another key factor when it comes to AJ Dillon’s success. Recently, Dillon and his wife announced that they are expecting a baby, due next May.
Although he’s not officially a father yet, Dillon said, “I think it’s just early set-in dad strength. It’s a real thing. I already had the bald strength, now the dad strength is setting in.” Dillon even used the football to mime rocking a baby for his fourth quarter touchdown celebration.
Dillon’s impact against the Bears did not go unnoticed. Packers star quarterback Aaron Rodgers praised Dillon’s toughness after the game, saying, “He’s been a good cold-weather runner for us going back to his rookie year against Tennessee. He’s a tough tackle. He doesn’t go down easy. And he seems, you know, last couple weeks, he’s had a guy on him at like the 5 and just can’t get him down.”
As the Packers head into their bye-week, they look to regroup and hopefully give players a chance to recover from injuries. However, if Aaron Jones still isn’t fully healed by Dec. 19 for their game against the Los Angeles Rams, AJ Dillon will be more than ready to step into the starting role once again.
