The Green Bay Packers and Las Vegas Raiders will forever be remembered for their trade involving Davante Adams. In that trade, the Packers sent Davante Adams to the Raiders for a first and second round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. Green Bay turned the first round pick into Quay Walker and used the second round pick to trade up and draft Christian Watson. Prior to the trade, some expected the Packers to ask for Las Vegas star pass catchers Darren Waller and/or Hunter Renfrow. Due to the fact that Adams was on the franchise tag, though, Green Bay could only accept draft picks.
Like the Packers, the Raiders had a very disappointing season. In addition to moving on from quarterback Derek Carr, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler stated that general manager Dave Ziegler and coach Josh McDaniels may completely retool the roster with “their own guys.” This means that Waller and Renfrow may be back on the market.
Teams around the league expect the #Raiders to aggressively tweak their roster and that includes Josh McDaniels and GM Dave Ziegler getting "their own guys." while moving on from team veterans

The Packers Could Benefit From Either Player
The Green Bay Packers have a great many questions as to who will be on their roster in 2023. We do know that their quarterback will either be Aaron Rodgers or Jordan Love. That’s a simple answer. What is not so simple is who should be the quarterback in 2023, but that is a discussion for another time.
Other questions surrounding the offense lie in the makeup of the wide receiver and tight end positions. Allen Lazard and Randall Cobb are unrestricted free agents, and Lazard has stated he has played his last game in Green and Gold. Even if Cobb comes back, Green Bay will need another wide receiver (or two). They could achieve this by trading for Hunter Renfrow.
Additionally, the Packers have questions surrounding the tight end position in 2023. Both Marcedes Lewis and Robert Tonyan are unrestricted free agents. While both could possibly return, Green Bay lacked quality offensive production from the tight end position. Adding Darren Waller via trade could also be a positive move.
There Are Recent Injury Concerns
One situation to monitor in terms of what the Raiders may be asking for in terms of a return for either player is their recent injury history. Waller was limited by a hamstring injury and played in just nine games all season. Renfrow suffered an oblique injury and played in just 10 games.
Darren Waller Contract and Stats
- Under contract through 2026 (age 34 season); cap hits are between $12 million and $15 million in each season.
- 28 receptions, 388 yards, three touchdowns
Hunter Renfrow Contract and Stats
- Under contract through 2024 (age 29 season); cap hits are roughly $13 million each season.
- 36 receptions, 330 yards, two touchdowns
