The job is far from done for the Green Bay Packers, but they are without a doubt feeling great following a huge victory right out of the gate of their Week 1 showdown against the Detroit Lions at Lambeau Field last Sunday.

The offense hummed and the defense performed incredibly for Green Bay in the Lions game. The run game, for one, got a touchdown from star running back Josh Jacobs, who should continue to be the undisputed top option on the ground for the Packers.

And speaking of the position, the Packers made a move in the running back room on Monday that may have gone under the radar of many Green Bay fans.

    Via the Packers’ official website:

The Green Bay Packers have signed RB Pierre Strong Jr. to the practice squad and released RB Israel Abanikanda (ah-BON-ee-CAHN-duh) from the practice squad. General Manager Brian Gutekunst announced the transactions Monday.

Strong last saw action in the NFL with the Cleveland Browns, but he was waived by the team last week. He now finds a home with the Packers, though it’s unclear whether he’ll get a shot at getting promoted to the main roster.  Abanikanda, on the other hand, has not seen action in a regular-season or postseason game in the NFL since 2023, when he was still with the New York Jets.
