The Packers have a new wide receiver
The Green Bay Packers are getting ready to take on the Minnesota Vikings in Week 17. The Packers had several players with day-to-day injuries following the team’s win over the Miami Dolphins. Christian Watson was one of those players. The Packers added a wide receiver to their active roster Tuesday before practice for the Vikings begins on Wednesday.
According to a statement by the Packers, the team signed wide receiver Bo Melton to their active roster. He was on the Seattle Seahawks practice squad before the Packers poached Melton. According to the statement, Melton will wear the number 80 jersey:
“Melton (5-11, 189) was originally selected by the Seahawks in the seventh round (No. 229 overall) of the 2022 NFL Draft out of Rutgers University. He has spent the entire regular season on Seattle’s practice squad. He finished his college career ranked No. 3 in program history with 56 games played, No. 6 with 164 receptions, tied for No. 8 with five 100-yard receiving games and No. 10 with 2,011 receiving yards.”
The Packers had a spot on their active roster after defensive lineman Dean Lowry went on injured reserve Tuesday. Melton has not appeared in an NFL regular season game for the Seahawks in his rookie season. It’ll be interesting to see how the Packers use him on their active roster.
