At 5-8, the Green Bay Packers need all the help they can get in order to make the playoffs. Heading into their bye-week, the Packers had about a four percent chance of making the playoffs. After wins from an NFL juggernaut and an unexpected underdog, Green Bay’s playoff chances multiplied.
Obviously, the Packers’ best bet is to win the rest of their games this season. If they do that, they’ll have about a 50 percent chance of making the postseason. Green Bay’s remaining games are against the Rams, Dolphins, Vikings, and Lions.
Packers Playoff Chances Increase After Carolina Win
The Packers can’t control their own destiny when it comes to making the playoffs this season. Winning out does not guarantee a playoff berth. Green Bay needs help from other NFC teams in order to have a shot at the postseason.
If you’re a Packers fan, you’re not only rooting for Green Bay to win, but you should also be rooting for the Giants, Commanders, and Seahawks to lose.
Over the weekend, two of those three teams lost. It was no surprise that the Giants lost to the Eagles over the weekend. The shock was that the Carolina Panthers beat the Seattle Seahawks, 30-24. Seattle now sits at 7-6. It was an upset that nobody expected, however, it was an upset Packers fans desperately needed to happen.
The Packers currently rank tenth in the NFC playoff picture. Seven teams from each conference make the playoffs. The seventh seed currently belongs to the Giants, who have a record of 7-5-1.
In order, for Green Bay to sneak into the postseason, they will need more upset wins like the one on Sunday.
