The Green Bay Packers made one of the most anticipated moves of the offseason. Jaire Alexander has been signed to a four-year $84 million extension. His $21 million salary per season is the most in the history of the NFL for cornerbacks. After Davante Adams was traded to the Las Vegas Raiders, many Packers fans were desperate for the team to extend another fan-favorite. Many took to Twitter to voice their approval.
Are Jaire Alexander, Eric Stokes, and Rasul Douglas the best CB group in football? 👀🔥 pic.twitter.com/jRDnXQj3Bc

I'm seeing people say that Jaire Alexander is now overpaid because he doesn't have the stats. He doesn't have the stats because teams don't throw his way. Bringing Alexander back to Green Bay was not only important, but it was a must. #Packers

@JaireAlexander getting the bag he deserves – good for him. Can't wait for him to keep being a Packer #GoPackGo https://t.co/RRPJIHJvfH

The Defense Is Stacked for Years to Come
There will, no doubt, be many questions (and soon) about how the Packers will be able to afford other players on their roster. However, for the time being, the defense appears stacked for a long time. Jaire Alexander is now under contract for the next four seasons. De’Vondre Campbell and Preston Smith each signed deals this offseason. Rasul Douglas, too, is back for three more seasons. Additionally, the Packers have Eric Stokes, Quay Walker, and Devonte Wyatt (all from Georgia). And we have not even mentioned Kenny Clark yet…
Rashan Gary and Darnell Savage are each entering their fourth NFL seasons. The Packers will be able to pick up their fifth year options, meaning that both will be in Green Bay for the next two seasons (at least). There is no doubt, though, that the Packers will do whatever they can to keep both of them for the long run.
