The Green Bay Packers have tried to build out the pass rush through the NFL Draft in recent years to inconsistent results.
With free agency nearing, and the NFL Draft looming in April, the Packers may look to prioritize the position again this offseason, especially after the pass rush disappeared in the postseason against the Philadelphia Eagles and wasn’t good enough down the stretch to pull off what would have been season-altering victories over the Minnesota Vikings or Detroit Lions.
After all, despite finishing eighth in the NFL with 45 sacks as a team, the pass rush didn’t quite make the impact it needed to when the defense needed it the most.
Packers Urged to Prioritize Adding Pass Rushers This Offseason

The 33rd Team put together a list of every team’s “most dire” offensive need this offseason, including urging the Packers to prioritize bolstering the pass rush.
“The Green Bay Packers have spent multiple first-round picks on their defensive line,” Marcus Mosher writes for The 33rd Team. “But the unit still isn’t good enough when facing top-tier teams.
“Rashan Gary is a high-end starter, but they need to find someone dynamic opposite of him. Paying big money to a free-agent rusher is possible, but expect the Packers to use the depth of the draft to improve their defensive line.”

Fortunately for the Packers, this offseason could feature some elite and established rushers becoming available.
Whether it’s breaking the bank on a blockbuster trade to acquire Myles Garrett, who wants out from the Cleveland Browns, or a trade for Raiders All-Pro Maxx Crosby, or the pipe dream of landing Micah Parsons in a deal with the Cowboys, the Packers have some options.
As the Philadelphia Eagles showed in the Super Bowl, few things set the tone or are more pivotal than a dominant pass rush and the Packers are going to need to get more from theirs, especially in their biggest games of the season.
